The park's 7-acre urban woodland habitat was enhanced with over 200 native plant species, and invasive shrubs were effectively managed. Additionally, the existing pollinator garden was rejuvenated to serve as an educational resource for the community.
An Indigenous and senior healing garden space has been created, featuring plants and vegetation that embody the healing powers of nature. The project was completed in collaboration with a local healing expert, ensuring a space that fosters well-being and connection to natural remedies.
A garden with a multipurpose community space has been created, featuring a food production garden bed alongside a display and activity area. This garden extends REAPS’ programs by offering a larger demonstration and food production area, thereby promoting healthy local environments and sustainable food production.
The Flin Flon Community Garden has successfully enhanced the space by adding ten new garden boxes, complete with essential materials like soil and manure. Additionally, a dedicated area for pollinators has been established, featuring a small seating section for visitors.
Together with the community, Green Ventures has successfully transformed the church grounds. A section of the parking lot has been removed and replaced with a vibrant community garden filled with native plants, additional seating has been installed, and access to this community space has been significantly improved.
Unofficially called Kiddie Park, the project has successfully expanded and renovated existing areas within the park. The enhancements include the addition of a memorial rose garden and the increase and expansion of greenery both within the park and around its exterior.
This group successfully co-constructed a student-designed sustainable community garden with the students and parents, integrating indigenous ways of knowing. The project created awareness of global challenges such as poverty, sustainability, and equity, with a particular focus on agriculture.
The Bruderheim Agricultural Grounds now feature enhanced greenspaces, raised-bed community gardens, pathways, a cosmic skate park, and an astronomy playground. The project successfully increased the tree canopy and incorporated native plants within the landscaped areas, benefiting both the community and the natural environment.
The Green Cities Foundation teamed up with Landscape Nova Scotia and Hope Blooms for a special Community Planting Day at Uniacke Square at Murray Warrington Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia. A large group of about 100 volunteers planted 20 trees, including one dedicated to Peggy Godfrey, an active volunteer and longtime member of Landscape Nova Scotia and the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association.
The Queens Park Community Garden in New Westminster has been transformed into a vibrant hub for youth and the community. This project successfully created a youth-focused community garden featuring raised beds and native plants, promoting biodiversity and local food production. Over the course of the initiative, young people gained invaluable leadership skills and hands-on experience in sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The garden has become a welcoming and accessible space, fostering connections while serving as an educational resource on climate resilience and local ecosystems. By combining ecological awareness with practical gardening skills, this project has empowered the next generation to take meaningful action for a greener, more sustainable future.
The Birge Street Meadow graces the heart of vibrant Hamilton, offering a haven of tranquillity to both patients at Hamilton Health Sciences – Regional Rehabilitation Centre and visitors from the surrounding area.
Working together with our major sponsor, RBC Insurance, as well as the Barton Village BIA, Beautiful Alleys, The City of Hamilton, The Golden Horseshoe Chapter of Landscape Ontario and the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association membership, this #GreenMyCity project creates a natural landscape that will improve community health and well-being in the Barton Village Community.
Green Cities Foundation teamed up with Scotts and the Boys and Girls Club – West Scarborough in 2022 to install four raised gardens and planted veggies with the club kids.
Steamworks Brewing Company, Para Space Landscaping Inc., the British Columbia Nursery and Landscape Association and the Green Cities Foundation have partnered to renovate an ignored and underutilized area in Burnaby, BC, to transform it into a public greenspace for the benefit and enjoyment of North Burnaby Neighbours and visitors of the area. Special thanks to the City of Burnaby and BC Hydro for supporting this project by providing the space and access.
Landscape Alberta & Landscape Saskatchewan have partnered with the City of Humboldt, the Humboldt Hospital Foundation, Green Cities Foundation, and Communities in Bloom and Scotts Canada, to build a “Healing Garden” at the Humboldt Regional Hospital. This garden will not only serve as a place of relaxation and tranquillity for those receiving treatment and care at the hospital but as a memorial for lives lost in the Humboldt Bronco’s tragedy.
In the spring of 2019 Landscape NL Horticultural Association (LNLHA) began a project “The Forgotten Corner”. The purpose of this project to provide a green space renovation to a “forgotten corner” in a Newfoundland municipality.
Landscape NL Horticultural Association, in partnership with the Green Cities Foundation, renovated a Forgotten Corner on the corner of Savage Creek Road and Logy Bay Road, LBMCOC.
