CONNECTING PLANTS & PEOPLE

Transforming Urban Spaces, One Green Space at a Time.

#GreenMyCity is an initiative the Green Cities Foundation started to transform urban spaces by creating and enhancing green areas like parks, gardens, and public spaces. The campaign encourages individuals, communities, businesses, and municipalities to contribute to a healthier urban environment by planting trees, shrubs, and other vegetation.

Through this initiative, we promote the idea that urban greenery beautifies cities, improves air quality, cools surroundings, reduces noise, and fosters physical and mental well-being.

Lacombe Public Schools Enhancement Society - JS McCormick Green Space Development
Students at JS McCormick School came together to help transform their outdoor space into a greener, more inclusive place for not only the children at the school, but for everyone in the community.Supported through our #GreenMyCity program, Lacombe Public Schools Enhancement Society is leading the revitalization of an aging schoolyard with new trees, native grasses, and a beautiful Medicine Wheel garden. Together, these additions are creating an outdoor space where children can play, explore, learn, and connect with nature.Students, volunteers, and community partners rolled up their sleeves to plant greenery that will continue to grow alongside future generations of young learners. Schools are often at the heart of a community, and projects like this bring people together in meaningful ways. By working side by side, neighbours strengthen connections, children develop a sense of belonging, and environmental stewardship becomes a value that will continue to grow for years to come.A heartfelt thank you to Lacombe Public Schools Enhancement Society for leading this inspiring initiative, to the students, community volunteers, and Wolf's Botanical for helping bring the vision to life, and to Ecole James S McCormick School, Wolf Creek Public Schools, the City of Lacombe , Tree Canada / Arbres Canada, and Nowco Home Hardware for their partnership and support. Together, we are growing greener, healthier, and more connected communities.
